But It's So Much Easier...

I suppose this is personal in a sense but not so much so that I mind describing its meaning, unlike my last submission.

This piece was meant to portray how easy it is to just stop trying, or give up... And surround yourself with things that are only temporary (such as the happy show on the TV) until you have sank so far into depression that you forget why you are depressed... you forget your past life, and all that you know is sitting there, letting time chip away at you. I always thought of old twisted trees and stone statues with crack in them when I thought about time and how to show it has passed you by... thus her legs turning to trees and parts of her body chipping away like a stone statue.

The slugs and snails, as can be expected, represent how slowly time is passing while the little creatures behind her nail her to her 'chair' and repair her altered reality, making her think that she has all the time in the world to feel sorry for herself...
